Korea Media: Samsung Electronics Has Been Slow to Enter the OLED TV Market
( Send time:2022-03-14 )

According to Business Koreaba, Samsung's entry into OLED TVS will be delayed due to an impasse in negotiations with LG Display over the price of OLED panels.

To that end, Samsung is considering how to restructure its TV lineup. The company is expected to put Micro LED TVS at the top of its lineup, followed by Mini LED TVS (Neo QLED TVS) and then OLED TVS.If Samsung adopts this product lineup, it will be able to lower the price of OLED panels as much as possible.

Samsung's QD-OLED TV launch, originally scheduled for the first half of 2022, could also be delayed, analysts said.Samsung Display started mass production of QD displays in November 2021, but production has yet to stabilize.

Samsung Display's QD-OLED panel production capacity is 1 million panels per year. But given its low output, industry insiders say it will be able to produce 500,000 to 600,000 units a year. But that is too small to satisfy Samsung's panel demand.Samsung Electronics shipped 9.43 million QLED TVS in 2021, according to market research firm Omdia.

Another industry source said That Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display have also encountered difficulties in negotiating the price of QD-OLED panels.
